The First Visit
to...
The Pediatric Dentist
The initial visit generally includes a complete oral examination, teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment. Dental x-rays may be requested at this time. Oral hygiene instructions and home care recommendations are discussed. We will provide you information about dental development, diet, use of bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers; topics all pertinent to good oral health.
Please help your child have the most pleasant experience possible. You may talk to your child in a positive manner about the dentist and what to expect. Refrain from using words that may trigger unnecessary concern with your child such as “needle”, “shot”, “drill”, or “pull”. Dental visits are a part of life which can be fun and enjoyable.
The Orthodontist
The orthodontist will provide a thorough orthodontic examination and will address any patient concerns. The orthodontist will determine the best course and best timing of treatment. Prior to beginning treatment, complete orthodontic records are gathered. They include study models, dental and facial x-rays and photographs. These records are used by your orthodontist to develop a custom treatment plan and track the progress of treatment for the
patient.
Also at this time, the staff will discuss fees for orthodontic care, payment options and insurance benefits.
